University Policies

The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Accessibility Program was formed as an outcome of the University’s Information and Communication Technology Policy, adopted on July 9, 2019.

Technical Standards

The University of Oregon adheres to nationally recognized best practices and standards on accessible technology. At a minimum, University technologies adhere to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 at the AA level of conformance, and Accessible Rich Internet Applications (WAI-ARIA) 1.0 standards.

WCAG is a technical specification and can be difficult to understand. WebAIM provides an simplified version of these criteria.

Legal Guidelines

The University's policies and procedures conform with the legal requirements under Section 504 of the Rehabilition Act of 1973, prohibiting discrimination against students with disabilities, and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, requiring all electronic and information technology is made accessible to people with disabilities.
