Body
In Microsoft Teams, read receipts provide a clear signal that a chat message has been seen — reducing ambiguity and streamlining conversations.
Starting November 20, read receipts will be enabled by default at the UO to help facilitate collaboration across locations, schedules, and communication styles.
Benefits of read receipts
- Confirms when information has been seen, reducing unnecessary check-ins and repeated messaging.
- Enhances real-time chat collaboration when timely acknowledgment is important.
- Shows whether a message is editable before recipients have viewed it.
What to expect
- Applies to one-on-one and group chats — not Teams channels.
- You can manage your own settings. However, UO units may establish common practices to support their own operational requirements.
