Zoom AI Companion launches to UO community April 29

Introducing Zoom AI Companion

UO’s Zoom service will include Zoom AI Companion starting April 29. This built-in AI assistant can help you:

• Summarize Zoom meetings
• Catch up quickly during a meeting
• Identify action items
• Find highlights in Zoom recordings

Data Privacy and Security

• Zoom AI Companion is the only AI transcription tool approved for use in UO’s Zoom service.
• Only low-risk (green) data is approved for entry into any AI tools at the UO, currently.
• When using digital tools like this, employees create records that may be disclosed if requested under the Oregon Public Records Law or under the federal Freedom of Information Act.
• According to Zoom, it doesn’t use customer meeting audio, video, chat messages, or shared content to train its AI models.
