Purpose
The University of Oregon AI Council advises the provost on the integration of artificial intelligence across our institution. The council will be a platform for faculty, staff, researchers, and students to develop frameworks to ensure the effective and ethical use of AI in teaching, learning, research, and administration. Responsibilities:
- Development of Policy and Guidelines: Recommend policies, principles, and guidelines for ethical use of AI in teaching, research, and administration. This includes data governance, privacy protection, and opportunities for efficiencies.
- Strategic Planning: Develop, recommend and review strategic plans for AI integration, outlining goals, priorities, and resource allocation.
- Evaluation: Monitor ongoing AI initiatives, assess their impact, and make recommendations for improvements or adjustments as needed.
- Risk Management: Develop a framework for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with AI research and applications.
